iOS v android - Take your pick

Hey guys this is one of my first blogs over here. I appreciate you dropping by !!
Let's get started , shall we

iOS vs android

Well even before I begin, let me just update you that I have used both os for a while now and this blog is not about establishing supremacy of one os over other, rather just putting my views in front of you, which off course is subjective as well

APPLE :- Well to start off, apple truly has been the trendsetter for a while now and there is no denying the fact that apple did eventually gave birth to the smartphone market. It raised the standards and at the same time expectations from the consumer when it comes to cellphones. It swept across the traditional views , broke boundaries and entered into the untapped market which we now refer as the smartphone market.

Android :- android was a bit late to enter the big boys club and apple did cash in on that in the early years where the most rivalled competition to their ios was symbian, which quite honestly just didn't packed enough punch to keep the consumers interested once apple entered the market. Having said that, android is catching up every second as we speak and has even surpassed apple in Europe , which we have to admit is impressive

In terms of comparing the iOS vs android, let's take a look at some of the salient features that you judge when it comes to mobile operating systems

1 User experience :- both os have a really user friendly experience. Ios is just outright easy to use, classic yet elegant and a treat for user.android well to put it in a simple way, is more user centric. But when you judge a user experience, you look at the time lag in opening an app, downloading a file, scrolling through a music library, taking a picture, making a call ,system's response to user actions and overall a combination of similar factors which enhance the overall experience of the user in his day today interaction with the device.in this regard, apple does hold a slight edge over android simply because it's iOS is simple, responds quickly , gives a minimal lag, and using ios is just pure fun

2 Multitasking :- well when you think of multitasking, you think of no of simultaneous processes or apps the system can run or perform in the background without effecting the performance of the system. There is no denying the fact that apple does achieve that to some extent, but when you compare it with android , it's just a hand down victory for android sheerly for the reason that it can do it all day long without breaking a sweat

3 connectivity :- when we talk about connectivity, we mean not just wifi, Bluetooth , LTE network but also being able to touch upon and interact with external devices, offer new mode of communications, like NFC for example . Apple is great when you consider it within its own ecosystem of ipads , iphones n ipods. But it just doesnt take that leap forward and reach out to other platforms. So when we rate iOS vs android, this piece of pie will have to go to android

4 Apps :- A mobile os needs apps like a fish needs water. Apple was first one to put it to the people and rest is history . Android has been able to catch up to some extent , but apple just blows it upright when it comes to quality and quantity of apps that you find in apple store. You will find most of the necessary apps reqd on android store as well , but you will also find some unwanted and garbage apps as well.  But since apple follows a strict and stringent test to approve an app, the quality of apps on istore is just phenomenal. To put it out bluntly, apple has this one point in its kitty and will have for sometime still going forward

5 Customization :- in short Customization means enabling user to use the device in his own way, the way u unlock ur screen, the way u answer your call, the way you arrange ur screens, resize ur apps, add widgets, change your home screen , unlock screen the way u like. So when we see these things, we have to admit iOS is pretty closed in that way as compared to android which puts user at the top of everything and gives you much more control as after all it's your device.

6 Security :- security is not just shielding ur system from viruses, but includes your encryption decryption techniques being used, your personal information security which is very sensitive when it comes to your bank information like your bank account no, pin no n such information. This is one area where the apple can just put its nose ahead in the race and march all day long. It is virtually impossible for virus attack, hacking or stealing your personal information on ios

7 formats supported OOTB :- when we talk about formats, we not just mean the audio or video formats supported by the os independent of any app. It also mean the download format it supports, the word file, the excel file format support, ability to read n edit ur ppt. Open up a word file , edit it and share it across. It's no secret that android does cater to wider no of formats, whether it's video formats, audio or even your document formats.

Verdict :- let me put it this way, what apple can do , no body can do it more elegantly and strikingly pleasantly than apple. However due to its closed ecosystem,it does misses out on a lot of other functionalities , which in today's world, people are more of demanding rather than expecting. Android despite giving much more ,still has a long way to go and polish itself to make it absolutely complete in its own terms so as to convince the consumer that it can give a experience which is at least equal to if not greater than iOS

Future :- both the os have certain edge over other. But when it comes to long term success and sustainability . The os which will keep up the pace of innovation with consumers , and keep on raising , matching and exceeding the expectations of the consumer will surely be here to stay. We will have to wait n see which one eats other or both co exist happily ever after

I do appreciate your dropping by, please do share your critics or suggestions with me, would love to improve myself on that :)
